Special Family Hydrospeed FAQ

What physical ability must a child have to do Hydrospeed?

We make it a point to ensure that the child is motivated, because the river is an impressive element and we want to offer them the best possible experience. He must obviously be a good swimmer, dynamic and in good physical condition. It is preferable that the child already has experience using fins in a swimming pool or at sea. The river guide leaves himself the right to choose whether or not to accompany a family in Hydrospeed, when one of the children is too large. little. Indeed, water levels change on a natural river like the Ubaye, and sometimes the force of the current is too strong for children. In this case, your guide will direct you towards an alternative activity such as Rafting or aquatic adventure which is a kind of aqua hiking but very aquatic.

Where is the Hydrospeed Family course?

The start of the legendary Ubaye Hydrospeed course is 6 km above our Crazy Water Rafting whitewater base, in Lauzet. This is the route which begins at Longe Fessol, to a place called La Source, in the village of Lauzet. We are therefore ideally located and avoid long shuttle journeys. More precisely, we find ourselves at the arrival of river course, at the level of the Roman bridges, close to the mouth with Lake Serre-Ponçon.

When to practice Hydrospeed on Ubaye?

Water swimming is a great way to spend time together, have fun and create unforgettable memories. To fully enjoy this activity as a family, it is recommended topractice whitewater swimming between early and mid-summer, when the water level and conditions are suitable. The water is warmer and crystal clear and the power of the river current is suitable for a family trip.

It is difficult to know in advance whether the activity will be suitable for your family after mid-August, as water levels change seasonally. The ideal is to contact us by telephone, we will advise you and offer you alternative activities such as Aquatic Adventure, it is a very fun “floating” activity, Rafting or Kayak-Air.

In summary, Hydrospeed as a family is a unique aquatic experience where you reconnect with your children and benefit from the supervision of qualified professionals.

Wonderfull family rafting experience. Just a little bit too much for my sensitive eight year old, but great overall. The river is beautiful with nice surroundings. The guide was excellent (forgot his name 🙄) and the whole team was very nice. The trip down the river took about one and a half hour with some stops. If you visit this place, your're not gonna be sorry! 👍🏻

Encore merci. Jérôme, Caroline, Charlotte et Manon.

We did two descents, one by raft and one by kayak, both with Julien as a guide. He seems totally crazy when you first meet him, but he was a great guide and made our day. Really spectacular river, with a lot of rapids and great views. We got out of the boats to swim a bit in one of the rapids and they took us to a rock where we could jump in to the water. Julien and the crew of Crazy Water are real professionals, but in for a laugh and a joke. A pity we could'n do the 'sport' descent, because of bad weather. But we sure come back. One remark; their 'bar' is quite empty, so make sure to bring your own drinks and food if you're planning to stay for a day.
